Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. She is the current president and the controlling owner for the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association. Buss is a native of California and grew up as an heir to a prestigious family. Jerry Buss, her father was a successful entrepreneur in the field of real estate and later became owner of Lakers Entertainment and Sports. The couple divorced in 1972 which made her feel emotionally left behind. Her family's business was started in the age of 19 to become the general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. She then founded in the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. The position she held was President of Great Western Forum prior to becoming the vice-president of Lakers. Buss, her five brothers and sisters and their father who owned the Lakers and ruled them until his death in 2013, inherited this ownership by way of the trust. They each were entitled to the same the right to vote. She assumed the office as head of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also the co-owner of Women of Wrestling a pro-wrestling organization based within Los Angeles.
